Here we see an alert sent to a sales manager when a sales representative attempted to input an order with a gross margin less than acceptable as defined by internal company policy.
Alerts are sent within SAP, but can also be emailed via Outlook, even to a device such as a Blackberry. The manager then can deny or approve the order.
Alerts can be sent with or without the knowledge of the person who has broken a "business rule".
