WinTax software displays facsimiles of IRS tax forms. Start to fill in the required information as usual. Then the most likely values for some lines are automatically suggested (but you may edit). Those lines which only depend on your required information, already input, are calculated automatically for you. Tables, arithmetic and logic are done automatically, even the tax table (or tax calculation) and the correct standard deduction. If you itemize, the larger deduction is used., Many lines or sections display a HELP button. Click on it, and you see the official IRS instructions for that portion of the form. If a worksheet is referenced in the instructions, a WORKSHEET button similarly brings it on-screen. Results are automatically copied to the appropriate space on the relevant form for for you.
