Additional Product Information

Graphical Back Office System Built on a Windows Base
Using a relational data model, Retalix BackOffice offers progressive retailers a completely integrated in-store solution ? from the front-end to the back door and everything in between. Available as a suite of modular components, Retalix BackOffice includes an on-line point-of-sale (POS) interface for item maintenance and reporting, store receiving, hand-held terminals for RF verification and receiving, label and sign printing, ordering and host support using the Standard Interchange Language (SIL) format.

Item Management and Reporting ? At Your Fingertips
Item management tasks have never been easier to perform and more intuitive thanks to Retalix BackOffice?s use of graphical icons, drop-down menus, selection boxes, and user-friendly help screens. Retalix BackOffice puts critical information at your fingertips by allowing you to access, view and edit product data from virtually any combination of fields and selection criteria. The Item Form View (see inset above) allows users to focus on an individual item?s data fields while the Grid View provides you with a spreadsheet-like format, allowing for quick, mass maintenance to multiple items at once.
With on-line interfaces to various industry-leading POS systems, Retalix BackOffice gives you immediate access to movement data as well as historical reporting capabilities. If you want to review item movement from a specific time period and above a certain level, you can get there with just a few clicks of the mouse button. Also, many routine functions and reports can be scheduled to automatically execute at any time during the day, week, month, or year by using the Retalix BackOffice Control String utility.

Retalix Hand-Held Terminals ? Price Verification at Its Easiest
Checking prices in the aisles is a very simple process with Retalix BackOffice and industry leading RF technologies. Using either narrow band or spread spectrum, price verification and file maintenance can be performed remotely with the use of hand-held terminals and your in-store processor. Many productivity and security features have been built into the design of the application. The hand-held terminals can even be instructed to ?talk? to the user. Multiple user-defined phrases can be assigned to messages that are ?spoken? when the voice option is enabled on the data terminal. The voice feature has been proven in retailer studies to significantly increase price verification productivity.

The terminals can also be used with the Flex Data Collect module to create unique applications at the store level. Combining the power of the database and the hand-held terminals, the parameterization of the system makes it easy for you to define the information you want, wherever you want it. The system becomes a data collect device with user defined fields for flexibility. Flex Data Collect has been used by retailers to automate numerous in-store jobs.

Automated Store Receiving ? Integrated with Your Front-End System
The Retalix BackOffice Store Receiving module was designed with the needs of the receiving personnel in mind. The receiving system allows unlimited suppliers for each item; unlimited allowances, charges, cost breaks and future costs; user-defined adjustment types; user-defined net cost calculations; and standard adjustments such as shell charges, buy-some-get-some free, bottle deposits, stocking charges, split charges, rebates, bill backs, discounts and lump sum allowances.

The actual receiving process can be completed using hand-held terminals or directly on a client PC through a graphical-user interface (GUI). Keep invoices on file for as long as you would like and print a variety of supplier reports. Also, because of the integrated design with the POS interface module, inventory can be tracked from the back door all the way to the front-end. POS pricing and item authorization can also be verified during the time of receiving?before the product ever gets to the shelf.

Label & Sign Printing ? Flexible and Efficient In-Store Printing
The Retalix BackOffice Label & Sign Printing module offers a flexible and efficient option for printing in-store labels and signs. The task of creating a label or sign becomes simple with the what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) formatting available in Retalix BackOffice. You can create formats as small as spice labels all the way up to large window display posters. And, because all the data is coming directly from the Retalix BackOffice database, there is no need to re-key any information. Print directly from the item maintenance screens or wait to print a complete batch when you are ready. You can even include product logos and pictures directly on your signs to help promote sales.

Get the Right Product at the Right Time ? Retalix BackOffice Ordering
The Retalix BackOffice Ordering module is completely integrated with the in-store database that controls the point-of-sale (POS) as well as back-door receiving, assuring that the data being reviewed and entered is current and accurate. Product ordering is completed using RF hand-held terminals that interact with the Retalix BackOffice database. All items ordered can be reviewed and edited, with orders selectively transmitted or automatically communicated to the supplier(s).

Host Interface ? Connecting Your Store
In today?s business world, it has become increasingly more important to have your store connected to the outside world. Whether it be to a corporate office in a multi-store chain or to the store?s wholesaler and other suppliers, the need to get data into and out of the in-store system is a necessity. The Host interface module in Retalix BackOffice was designed to facilitate the transfer and exchange of this critical data. By adhering to retail industry standards with the use of the Standard Interchange Language (SIL) file format, Retalix BackOffice can receive data from any SIL compliant source. Retalix BackOffice can also be host supported by the Retalix Host corporate office system with item and receiving data.
