Additional Product Information

Kapsali is multi-user point of sale software designed from the ground up to be used in a touch screen network. The development concentrated on two main issues...

* Ease of use
* Rock solid system stability

Kapsali may be downloaded for free. The trial period is extremely generous and will allow you to thoroughly test it in your business before any payment is required.

Kapsali is Windows based and efficient enough to run at an acceptable speed on older client PC's - even those running NT4 or 95/98. As you would expect, it's performance on a modern PC running XP or 2000 is outstanding.

Some features include...

* Logical flow using a "Wizard" methodology. Kapsali has adopted the simplicity of the "Back" and "Next" button concept
* Very simple bill splitting system. Choose the items and click "Next". That's it!
* Touch screens can be setup with multiple layers of buttons. You simply build layers which drill to other layers to create a complete menu. You can design completely different layers and switch easily between them - breakfast, dinner, takeaway, bar, management reports etc
* Touch screen layers are limited only by your system resources
* Buttons on each layer can be resized according to requirements and monitor size. The bigger your monitor, the more buttons you can fit onto the layers
* Buttons can be coloured and will hold graphics
* Prices for items will appear on the buttons, and if the inventory feature is enabled, the quantity left in stock will also appear on the buttons
* Special function buttons (discounts, refunds, extras, reports etc.) can be hidden from users. This prevents unauthorised access and eliminates user confusion when faced by too many buttons
* Multiple levels of security - It is possible to give selected managers more system rights than other managers. Kapsali restricts access to specific layers. The concept is very simple. You create a layer of buttons suitable for a specific user or manager and then restrict that layer to that user or manager
* "Live order" system flags specific items ordered by a customer as "Ready" or "UnReady". As items are prepared, they can be marked as ready which takes them off the list. This system eliminates orders "being lost" on the way to the kitchen
* Live order system can be combined with a watchlist feature which notifies your staff when the order is ready. In fact, Kapsali continues to remind them until they acknowledge the order as ready. This is a powerful concept when your staff take orders with wireless PC tablets
* Special items, not included as a button, can be added by staff if allowed
* Special prices (eg seasonal items) can also be priced when the item is added to the order
* Code Search - you can setup Kapsali to search for barcodes, or codes you create. This gives your users the option to scan the barcode with a wand or type in the code with a keyboard - without losing the functionality of the touch screen
* Reports can be modified by the admin. Admin can also decide which other users will have access to the report designer
* Kapsali runs on standard Windows equipped PC hardware (see below). You can setup Kapsali to run with a standard keyboard and mouse until you are ready to invest in more expensive touch screen or wireless technology

For the more technically minded...

Kapsali is written in Delphi and backends to a Firebird database. Firebird is an extremely robust SQL database with the efficiency of a small footprint. It is HIGHLY unlikely that you will ever outgrow this database in a point of sale environment.

Good design meant that a significant number of stored procedures were written in the database to shift the load from the clients to the server. Kapsali is a true client/server application. This is the reason why the client PC's do not have to be especially powerful to run the software - running a decent server is recommended.

While the client PC's must run Windows, the server will also run on Linux, BSD etc. Refer to our links page for the address to the Firebird website for a full list.
