SPIRAL is a software program for the design, characterization and ;optimization of etched spiral inductors on silicon, GaAs, ceramic, ;MCMs, and PCBs. Designed for ease of use and maximum automation, ;SPIRAL lets the user specify the spiral structure with simple ;geometric parameters. The program will automatically create the ;spiral to a specified number of turns or specified target inductance;value. The user can then optimize the spiral geometry for the ;highest quality factor.;The SPIRAL program can create both single layer and multi-layer ;(stacked) inductors with bridged escape leads. A GDSII cell to be ;used by the layout designer is created for each inductor simulated. ;SPIRAL uses full 3-D field solutions and the proprietary 'cougar' ;circuit simulator to generate an optimally coupled, frequency ;dependent RCLK model, S-Parameter, and Z-Parameter output. A robust;2-D/3-D visual interface for plotting spiral structures , and ;S-Parameter and Z-Parameter table output is also provided.
