QCP provides key characteristic accountability for characteristics including blueprint specifications, customer requirements and in-process checks that, when controlled, lead to improved product quality. QCP enables manufacturing engineers and quality planners to build Control Plans for key characteristics and store this information as data objects in the same CIMx Manufacturing Data Management (MDM) database. By using the MDM database, the data is available for auditing/reporting using standard Oracle tools, and is also under workflow mgmt and revision control. , QCP revision control allows Control Plan history to be tracked and insures that approved Control Plans are never edited without proper approval. The version and approval of Control Plans is totally independent of process plan approval., CIMx has integrated QCP and CS/CAPP so that manufacturing planners can include Control Plan elements in process plans and work instructions, and quality planners can examine existing process planning quality objects to aid in Control Plan definition. QCP can create and control the mapping between quality characteristics in the Control Plan and Quality Checks in the process plan and work instructions., QCP reports show where Control Plan items are accounted for in process plans. Control plan items that are not accounted for are highlighted in QCP exception reports. Audits and exception reports assure conformance between Control Plans and quality checks in the manufacturing plan.
