Additional Product Information

Did you know that you can easily convert any folder on your disks into a virtual drive and it will act just like a physical disk in your system? The NTFS file system is used by all modern Microsoft(tm) Operating Systems including XP, Windows 2000 and Windows 2003. However, these systems do not ship with utilities to do the tricks like we described above. PropertyEditor from UsefulSoft is intended to fill this gap.

PropertyEditor is a Windows Shell Extension. This means that this program won't put yet another tray icon into your crowded Windows tray area, nor will it slow down your PC and eat your precious memory running in the background. The program integrates itself into the the Windows Shell and is invoked only when you need it to change properties of a certain system object. Put simply, PropertyEditor shows itself as an additional tab when you right-click on a file, folder or other shell object and select "Properties" from the pop-up menu.

The additional tab in the "Properties" dialog allows you to do a lot of tricks. You can customize files and folders by selecting individual icons and calculating the size of all files in a folder including subfolders. You can edit the contents of the pop-up menu for the selected file and other files of this type. You can also easily define your own associations determining which files open with which application. You can also remove unwanted items that were installed by other programs without your permission.

NTFS introduces many interesting possibilities and PropertyEditor implements all of them. It allows you to easily manage file system links such as Hard Links, Soft Links (Junctions) and Mount Points. You can convert a folder into a drive or join one drive to another as a folder with a few mouse clicks. "Converted" folders and drives will continue to operate normally. You simply create alternative ways to access them.
