WinPing uses ICMP to check the connectivity of the specified server and report the network speed and any network blockages WinPing may find on the network path to the server or website. WinPing uses ICMP and not TraceRoute as TraceRoute can be blocked by firewalls. Using only ICMP Echo WinPing can walk through some firewalls and will report on which server has blocked the network traffic where network traffic previous flowed.
