Additional Product Information
MODE Solutions is a highly-functional, user-friendly computer aided engineering (CAE) environment which reduces product development costs and time-to-market. As MODE Solutions accurately describes the physical operation of both conventional and non-conventional optical and photonic waveguiding components alike, designers can focus on innovating new design solutions while being confident in the accuracy of the simulation results. The core, computational engine technology of MODE Solutions allows it to solve traditional optical fiber and rib or ridge waveguide geometries, in addition to more sophisticated photonic technologies involving photonic crystal fiber, sloping-wall ridge waveguides, coaxial Bragg fiber. Finally, refractive index spatial distributions, resulting from ion implantation or diffusion of dopants, can be accurately treated using the comprehensive material management facilities of MODE Solutions.
This core technology allows users to investigate next-generation integrated optical waveguiding components, like photonic crystal fiber. Photonic crystal fiber includes many curved air or silica voids which, when described accurately, contain a large number of curved interfaces. To property understand physical operation of holey fiber, as photonic crystal fiber is sometime referred to, it is necessary to accurately detail the effect of these curved interfaces on the performance of the fiber - including the effective mode area, and the fiber dispersion, two important design parameters governing operation of waveguide structures. MODE Solutions allows you to model the curved interfaces, and measure the dispersion of the structure across the wavelength region of interest - all with a few mouse clicks.
