Additional Product Information

Protek's Real-Time Inventory; In a network, typically hundreds of changes occur daily resulting in inventory databases, which are not in step with the actual configuration of the network. Provisioning services based on inaccurate data can have devastating effects on service delivery. Service providers need access to up-to-date information in order to be able to make informed and intelligent decisions, the benefits of which are extended to customers through improved service delivery. ;With Protek's Real-Time Inventory solution, the inventory is automatically linked to and loaded with real network elements and significant network events/ alarms. This means that all existing and new elements in a network are instantly identified and available for immediate use in service provisioning. Real-Time Inventory enables automatic discovery of equipment, equipment status changes as well as alarm recognition. It allows the automatic update of the inventory database, which ensures that operators have a consistent and accurate view of the network. Network planners can now work with up-to-the-minute inventory and are able to close the loop when new equipment is installed. Operations staff can use Real-Time Inventory to discover which customers and which services are impacted by which network faults and to solve such problems pro-actively thus guaranteeing high levels of service. Real-Time Inventory is a highly scalable solution, capable of working with multi-vendor, multi-technology networks. ;Real-Time Inventory Features; Mapping of alarms to affected customers and services; Automatic discovery of network components; Auto provisioning flow-through into network activation; Automatic population of the network inventory database; Highly scalable CORBA based architecture; Pre-integrated with Protek's Network Management solution; Easy integration with third party network and fault management products;Real-Time Inventory Cycle; The advanced capabilities of Real-Time Inventory provide benefits in both trouble ticketing and customer care applications because it allows the rapid and easy identification of which customers are affected by any particular network fault. Protek's Real-Time Inventory solution and its closely associated Protek's Service Provisioning can capture information from Protek's Network management solution and existing third-party network management applications by integrating these via its CORBA architecture.;Protek's Network Management system includes an element management capability, which collects, in real time, the details of the network structure and topology as well as the status and fill-level of the network elements. A full discovery is only required when a network is being interrogated for the first time. When, for example a new card is installed, only the new information is collected.;When a circuit is designed and provisioned in Protek's Service Provisioning solution, work orders are generated. These can be handed down and executed by the individual management systems responsible for the various network elements. This results in changes in the actual network elements themselves which are then reported back to Protek's Service Provisioning through the Real-Time Inventory solution, thus closing the loop. Consequently any "local" changes made for the sake of expediency are also automatically placed into the inventory, making it an accurate, Real-Time Inventory.;Automation is key to gaining competitive advantage. Real-Time Inventory eliminates error-prone, time-consuming manual steps, significantly improving the accuracy and efficiency of both provisioning and customer care. This can make the difference between generating revenue from customers eager for your services and allowing your competitors to win the business. The provisioning of new services and the demand for more bandwidth should not be an educated guess, it should be both measured and guaranteed. ;Real-Time Inventory Benefits; Automatically identifies the impact of faults to customers and service in real time; Significantly reduces the cost of creating and maintaining an accurate network inventory; Ensures only clean and valid data is entered into the inventory; New network equipment is instantly recognised and available for service; Allows "lost equipment" and capacity to be recovered and put back into service; Allows customer outages to be managed.; Consistent provisioning and lifecycle management; Maximises return on your network investment
