VTS incorporates many DCS like features including:
- Multiple levels of Redundancy out of the box. Any runtime or development license can serve as a backup. Trihedral has applications with up to 27 levels of backup.
- Load balancing: A backup server can perform I/O server functions, versus others that regulate the backup to being idle until a failure.
- On-line configuration capability: No need to stop to add stations or modify settings.
- Application partitioning: The application can be divided by user-defined filters called “Areas”. This enables stations to only see or load a portion of the application, which can be switched to full view on the fly.
- Event-driven execution: Processor utilization is based upon changes occurring in system, not size of system. This has a much lower CPU utilization and is more responsive.
- Ability to use multiple protocols over the same communication link simultaneously: As devices change in the future, it is useful to utilize the same radio frequency for different compatible devices, versus adding another frequency due to the central being only able to have one device per link (without elaborate switching systems).
- Ability to add custom application objects that are supported by the base software,
- Strong Networking Capability: VTS supports dual backup LAN links, requiring no user intervention in case of a LAN failure. VTS supports standard Network naming conventions such as DCHP, versus others packages, which require static naming conventions.
- Bandwidth tuning for slow links: remote laptop users are automatically synchronized to changes in the central when they connect, plus are able to operate the system using Cellular modems.
- Central configuration: Configuration changes can be automatically propagated to other stations while running, without resorting to file copies or user log offs.
- Application compatibility; Trihedral has never abandoned a version, requiring an update to a different product. This is due to the fact that their product is controlled by them, and not based upon technologies of others.
