Additional Product Information
This tool works by using our patented technique (US Pat No 6,236,993) for identifying embedded tokens within files without specifying where the tokens are located, nor the format of any *specific* token. The process is thoroughly described on both our website and in the patent - it is not a silver bullet, though the capability sounds like one. It is a product of careful, sound engineering. Even if you change the external timestamp of the compiled modules, the tool can tell you what the original compile/link times were from the internal timestamps, and whether the files match when the timestamps are excluded from the comparison.
The product is used by configuration management (CM) personnel to objectively verify whether executables, libraries, object files, etc. have changed since a prior release. DateWise FileCompare also allows CM personnel to verify software products created by the build on the CM machines is exactly identical to the software products created by the build on the developer machines.
