SMART Disk Monitor is a utility that monitors your disk hardware with the goal of identifying disks that have a strong possibility if crashing.
In addition, it will monitor SAF-TE and SES-compliant enclosures, and tape drives. It also has extensive device tuning capability via the mode page editor, and SCSI/Fibre log file reporter.
Use it for tuning performance such as modifying the disk drive's internal cache configuration, reporting cumulative seek distances, and types and quantities of cache hits.,
Statistical threshold monitoring can be used to alert you if a drive is experiencing buffer overflows, retries, or any other vendor/drive specific parameter the disk is capable of reporting.
