Resource Accounting and Chargeback for UNIX, Linux and Oracle
Today?s enterprises are increasingly complex in their Information Technology infrastructure. It is imperative that organizations are able to track and report on the IT resources being consumed and the costs associated with this usage. This holds true for all platforms found in today?s Enterprise. CIMS is an essential component of an effective financial management solution. CIMS fairly and accurately determines the cost of providing information services, and allows the charging of users and customers for the technology resources they consume.
CIMS Data Collectors for UNIX, Linux & Oracle is a full-featured system resource accounting and chargeback package. This product collects resource information such as CPU, IO, storage, and memory usage at the operating system level as well as Database usage. The user accounting feature allows for reporting usage consumed by individual users. Users can be grouped into divisions, agencies, departments, cost centers, or any group reflective of your organization. Seven levels of user grouping are available. Usage consumed by users can be assigned to projects and users have the ability to switch projects during a login session. Database usage can be reported by instance or database as well as at the database user level.
CIMS provides the ability to create rate tables for applying costs to the individual metrics collected. Rate tables can be assigned to individual user or projects based on the origin of the usage. For instance, one rate table can represent the rates for a user on a particular machine. Different rates can be defined for different databases and instances. Different rates may be defined for different shifts.
