ANTS Load is used to predict a web application's behavior and performance under the stress of a multiple user load. It does this by simulating multiple clients accessing a web application at the same time and measuring what happens. ANTS Load is the first product to be designed to test .NET XML web services.
The What, Why, How, When, Who and Where of ANTS Load
What? ANTS Load is a software tool written in Visual Studio .NET that is designed to load test .NET web services and other web applications.
Why? The single most important quality of an Internet application is its response time. Web applications that take more than half a second to provide information frustrate users, and those that take longer than five seconds cause users to abandon them*. It is anticipated that the demands on Web services will be even more extreme in the future.
The cause of slow download times is usually a lack of scalability. The application works well with a few users but as the number of users increases it becomes too slow. ANTS Load will identify the number of simultaneous users the system can cope with, providing data for key decisions on the architecture, platforms and software needed to meet user requirements. By identifying this in testing rather than on a live system, users can save time and money.
