EntireX by Software AG

5.75 - What's this?

Just like a hardware bus, EntireX provides a bus for software components. Almost any application can be "plugged into" the EntireX bus and thus be linked to any other application on the bus. Application Integration is what it comes down to once users start creating new busines solutions to exploit the potential of the World Wide Web and the intranet to increase customer satisfaction, reduce cost and open up new business oppportunities. Key to success for EntireX are its outstanding performance and its impressing flexibilty and ease-of-use that enable users to implement solutions and see results very quickly.

Additional Product Information

EntireX is a highly flexible and easy-to-use component-based solution for integrating enterprise applications across heterogeneous operating systems. EntireX offers application integration at high speed - both, in terms of implementation time and performance. The strong DCOM capabilities make EntireX the product of choice when connecting NT to mainframe applications.;By connecting previously disparate worlds, EntireX enables enterprises to lay the foundation for a seamless implementation of electronic business applications.;EntireX Broker is a very flexible, high-performance message server, the centerpiece of the EntireX bus.;Support for various communication models (synchronous and asynchronous, client/server and peer-to-peer, conversational and stateless) accommodates every application need. ;Persistent storage of messages and grouping of logically related messages for a single commit into "Units of Work" ensures high reliability. ;The concept of central queues significantly simplifies configuration and administration.;Transparence of physical location of servers to clients gives you maximum freedom to move server applications within your network. Clients use logical service names to address servers and can request information about available services from EntireX Broker. ;Server replication and workload balancing between replicated servers enables highly scalable solutions. ;EntireX Broker provides a tracing subsystem that supports production tracing. A filtering feature allows the user to control the amount and type of tracing.;EntireX Broker Services features MQSeries Adapter, APPC Adapter, CICS 3270 Bridge Adapter and Attach Service.;The MQSeries Adapter allows EntireX enabled applications to communicate with MQSeries applications.;The APPC Adapter allows for any application supporting APPC (like IMS or SAP R/2) to be integrated via the EntireX bus. ;With the CICS 3270 Bridge Adapter, functionality of CICS transactions that previously was tied to 3270 screen I/O now can be called by any EntireX enabled application - either via the EntireX messaging interface or via DCOM interface.;The Attach Service provides automatic, dynamic adjustment of the number of server replicates in accordance with the load profile. This ensures that client requests are answered quickly and resources are put to efficient use.;EntireX Security provides protection for applications utilizing Broker and Broker Services.;Functionality includes authentication for distributed application components, authorization to start and execute services (Broker or Broker Services) and encryption of the payload (Broker message). ;Existing authorization rules on the server (e.g. RACF, ACF2 on the mainframe) can be transferred to application components based on EntireX.;EntireX security is transparent for the application developer. No specific API is required.;The new version of EntireX security delivered with EntireX 5.2.1 provides seamless integration of NT and mainframe security and a truly secure communication, since no passwords are transmitted - not even in encrypted form.;EntireX Developers Kit comprises a rich set of interfaces and tools to attach applications written in a broad variety of programming languages to the EntireX bus.;The Advanced Communication Interface (ACI) enables application developers to fully exploit the rich communication capabilities of EntireX Broker and Broker Services. The ACI is the most powerful interface to EntireX in terms of flexibility, yet it has been kept simple and easy to use. With the COM/DCOM and Java binding is very easy to use the ACI from any COM-enabled development or scripting tool or from Java.;The EntireX Remote Procedure Call (RPC) offers a higher level of abstraction for applications where synchronous request/response type of communication is sufficient. The RPC hides all communication details from the application developer. Using the RPC is as simple as calling a local function. The location of the called procedure is transparent to the developer. ;Existing enterprise functions that can be called via RPC can be wrapped with standard interfaces so they appear just like DCOM or Java objects. The wizard included in the EntireX Developers Kit makes the wrapping process a breeze. ;With EntireX Wrapping existing functionality, for instance a CICS transaction on a mainframe, can be made available to web applications within hours. ;CORBA objects can also be attached to the EntireX bus by means of the EntireX RPC. ;EntireX Manager provides functionality for monitoring and managing the EntireX environment.;EntireX Manager features an easy-to-use graphical user interface that shields the administrator from the complexity of heterogeneous operating systems.;EntireX Manager provides a central service for administration.;Since EntireX Manager exposes administration functions via DCOM interfaces, these functions can easily be accessed by desktop applications.;Common COM-enabled scripting languages can be used to automate administration tasks. ;EntireX DCOM uniquely provides Microsoft's Distributed Component Model (DCOM) for all leading Unix platforms and the OS/390 mainframe. ;EntireX DCOM turns DCOM into a viable choice for component-oriented development of applications throughout the enterprise.;With special support for mainframe Cobol and the ATL porting guide in EntireX and its products Bolero and NaturalX, Software AG makes it easy to develop DCOM server components for non-Windows platforms.
