R66 is a Microsoft NT Server communications gateway designed to make the deployment of PC or workstation connections to CICS or IMS SNA LU6.2 applications on the IBM mainframe easy and rapid. It handles configuration, application interface, and communications management functions in a standard NT Server environment. The application is designed to run without operator intervention and can be easily configured to handle multiple applications. Programmers use Visual Basic, MS Access, C/C++, etc. to write business applications. These applications use the TCP/IP Sockets interface to send transactions to R66. R66 receives the transactions on the TCP/IP interface and sends them to CICS or IMS on an SNA LU6.2 interface. The results are returned to the client in a format that can be easily used by the programmer.
