Simplicity For Java Palm OS
Simplicity for Palm OS Platform is a visual Java RAD Tool that provides all the power developers need for creating great J2ME/MIDP applications that run on Palm OS® powered devices. Simplicity for Palm OS includes design level emulators for Palm Powered™ devices including Tungsten™, Treo™ and many others. Developers will build and test MIDlets by dragging and dropping visual parts onto actual working representations of the targeted device(s). In addition to the user interface developers can assemble images, threads, timers, and network communications.

Additional Product Information
Simplicity™ for Palm OS® makes it easy to build great applications using Java technology that will run on palmOne™ devices, Treo™ smartphones, and many other devices that are powered by the Palm OS®. As a J2ME RAD tool, Simplicity for Palm OS provides developers with easy to use visual tools for building MIDP applications. By dragging and dropping visual parts, a developer can assemble user interfaces, images, threads, timers and network communications. Simplicity simplifies the process of building great J2ME applications.
Simplicity for Palm OS includes palmOne's Java Toolkit, which enables J2ME/MIDP applications to run on all Tungsten™ handheld devices and Treo™ smartphones. Simplicity also includes the IBM™, WebSphere Micro Environment (WME) toolkit for palmOne handhelds which targets most handhelds with Palm OS 3.5 and higher. Simplicity's built in emulators can show the user exactly how their applications will look while coding during the visual designing process. The emulator includes skins for a wide range of Palm OS devices so the user can switch from device to device at any time. Simplicity also includes easy-to-use packaging features, which can handle all of the assembly and deployment requirements. It can produce JAR/JAD and PRC files with only a few mouse clicks, ready to install on an actual Palm OS based handheld.
Simplicity uses technology that makes programming the Palm OS in Java easier than ever. Here are some of the reasons why you will want to have this tool in your hands:
Simplicity MID Emulator for Palm OS Platform
Includes graphical representations for the Tungsten, Treo and many other Palm OS powered devices. Combined with IBM's WME it provides a simulation of what the application will look like when it is deployed to the actual device. The Simplicity Emulator helps a developer build and test MIDlets while adapting to the needs of the particular device. In addition to Palm OS powered devices, it includes a flexible emulator that lets you emulate a wide range of other devices by dynamically changing the screen size and color depth, as well as specifying device properties, including pointer support and double buffering. And, of course, you can still use any Java feature in the MID Profile, including RMS data storage, graphics, and networking.
Visual Composer™
Provides a drag and drop environment for building user interfaces. With the Visual Composer, creating the user interface for applications is simply a matter of dragging components and dropping them into place. Developers can choose from among many MIDP Displayables or other features from the Composer's palette. A user can fully customize each part. Each change that is made to a GUI component will appear instantly on the screen in the MID Emulator. The Composer improves accuracy, eliminates hours of tedious work and improves productivity.
Code Sourcerer™
The Code Sourcerer makes it easy to add powerful functionality to the program. Programmers with little Java experience can quickly create code. Experienced Java programmers will save time, producing large blocks of code with much less effort and greater accuracy. The Code Sourcerer guides the programmer in plain English, asking them questions about what they want to do, and then writes the source code for them. Options include working with all user interface components, performing network operations, screen painting, persistence and RMS data storage, as well as Java language statements, variable declarations, and system operations.
Sourcerer's Apprentice™
This code completion feature lets a user quickly view and select from the available methods and fields in any class, and quickly insert code in the Editor. This dynamic dialog shows all the methods and fields in all CLDC and MIDP classes, as well as all third party or custom classes that user places on the classpath.
Execution-On-The-Fly™
The Execution-On-The-Fly technology found only in Simplicity, speeds development since it offers, What-You-See-Is- What-You-Get programming. The reliability of the code improves because you can test your code, line-by-line, as you create it. It minimizes post debugging, since errors are detected immediately without compiling and deployment for testing. Once code is created, whether by hand or with the Sourcerer's Apprentice or Code Sourcerer, it takes effect instantly. The application continuously runs in the emulator and the change is integrated instantly. This eliminates the need to save, compile, create a JAR/JAD file, create a PRC then use an external emulator or deploy for testing between each step.
