ARCAD-Observer is the global solution to this problem. It is designed to make the knowledge and control of your AS/400 information system easier using:;ˇ A Simple, user friendly, graphical navigation of the very heart of your AS/400 applications,;ˇ The Automatic production and maintenance of technical application documentation,;ˇ A source code analyser that increases the readability of the code to ease comprehension and maintenance.;ARCAD Observer is composed of five different modules:;MACRO-MAKER, REPOSITORY, NAVIGATOR, DOCUMENTOR and SOURCE CODE ANALYZER;MACRO-MAKER is the tool upon which the Arcad solutions rely to define their automations. The loading of the repository and transfer to test/production/distribution are macro commands.;This module has two distinct parts:;- The list manager is a tool enabling you to handle groups of sources, objects or fields. The basic functions can be applied not only to the lists elements, such as inter-library transfers, compilations, and backups/restores, but also any OS command.;- The macro-commands resemble the CL language. They incorporate automatic restart and real time updating of history log message functions as standard.;REPOSITORY;The Arcad repository is the heart of the solution. It contains all the information of the components for your information system and all the links between the components.;The repository data can be used in three ways:;- By the native commands for display/printing,;- In Arcad list format allowing you to automate the processes,;- In graphical format using the ARCAD-Observer solution;NAVIGATOR;The navigator as its name indicates, is a system that allows you to navigate between all the information contained in the ARCAD repository. For each field or component you can switch to other information by using a popup menu accessed by right clicking with your mouse all whilst maintaining your original windows.;DOCUMENTOR;(note : ce texte est présent dans le 16 pages);The documentor is the module that allows you to generate and maintain the application documentation in Word format. You can create various document models and configure:;ˇ The chapters and sub-chapters that you wish to see appear,;ˇ The presentation and generation conditions. For example, if more than x files have been manipulated, you could insert the Visio diagram for the program's input and output.;The product generates hypertext links and automatic contents tables in the documents to ease their consultation.;You can of course complete the documents with your own text. The document maintenance module ensures the updating of the inserted pieces automatically whilst keeping the pieces inserted manually.;SOURCE CODE ANALYSER;The source code analyser allows you to navigate your program sources extremely rapidly. It gives you a preview of the program, instantly showing you the lines corresponding to the different parts (for example, a sub-routine, or the file access instructions).;A third part shows you the program's organigram, with a marking system for the source lines. We can therefore quickly break down the logic and access the required information.;Note that the source analysis is carried out in real-time from the PC without using the repository. It therefore works perfectly for your sources that are undergoing change.
