ARCAD-Transformer is above all a highly powerful tool for generating detailed impact analysis. It uses a series of pre-selected fields to tell you the totality of the lines in the process that directly or indirectly manipulate the chosen fields. But that's not all, Transformer can also make the suggested modifications for you. From the start Transformer was specifically designed to solve the problems linked to the year 2000, it is however, capable of treating any type of transformation.

ARCAD-Transformer is composed of three modules:;MACRO-MAKER, REPOSITORY and IMPACT/FRM:;MACRO-MAKER is the tool upon which the Arcad solutions rely to define their automations. The loading of the repository and transfer to test/production/distribution are macro commands.;This module has two distinct parts:;- The list manager is a tool enabling you to handle groups of sources, objects or fields. The basic functions can be applied not only to the lists elements, such as inter-library transfers, compilations, and backups/restores, but also any OS command.;- The macro-commands resemble the CL language. They incorporate automatic restart and real time updating of history log message functions as standard.;REPOSITORY;The Arcad repository is the heart of the solution. It contains all the information of the components for your information system and all the links between the components.;The repository data can be used in three ways:;- By the native commands for display/printing,;- In Arcad list format allowing you to automate the processes,;- In graphical format using the ARCAD-Observer solution;IMPACT/FRM;The IMPACT part of this module consists of collecting information on a series of fields in your database, then defining transformation rules for these fields.;The FRM part, as in "field reference management", is made up of various propagation engines which will generate the modification propositions. These propositions can then be printed to supply a detailed impact analysis, or applied to the sources for the transformation.
