Kobelt Development has developed a utility for converting RPGII program-described files to externally described DDS files on the IBM AS/400. The utility, CVTRPG2DDS, also converts S/36E RPGII F- and I-specifications to native AS/400 DDS file specification. It analyzes e-specifications, models arrays defined in the input specifications, and converts the array definitions to unique individual field definitions. The utility lets S/36E users to convert host applications for e-commerce use with virtually no changes. When the conversion is complete, you now have a native 400 DDS defined file that your users can use with query, client access etc. You can also use it for a JDBC connection if you are using Java (Websphere) or Net.Data or a ODBC connection to use PC tools.
