Additional Product Information
EDMmodelConverter; The EDMmodelConverter enables you to convert data described by one EXPRESS schema into a format described by;another EXPRESS schema. ;When the conversion is complete, the new model is ready to be used in the database, exported as a STEP physical file, or loaded into;another database of any type (relational, object oriented, etc.). This can be useful, for example, if you need to map and translate data;between two or more databases. ;The conversion is done according to a mapping schema written in EXPRESS-X, the language used to describe the conditions for;conversion. The EDMmodelConverter is a complete interpreter of the EXPRESS-X language which is, basically, EXPRESS (ISO;10303-Part 11) plus additional constructs. ;The EDMmodelConverter with EXPRESS-X has many advantages. Among other things, this combination: ;makes it easy to develop translators to any database system as well as any advanced data-warehouse application. ;makes it easy to maintain translators because EXPRESS-X is independent of any implementation. ;enables you to define the mapping for data exchange - traditionally hard coded - in an external mapping schema based on;EXPRESS-X. ;provides a fast, reliable path for any bulk conversion that may be required. ;enables you to easily handle data (read, write, modify, etc.) described by multiple schemata. ;The EDMmodelConverter includes an EXPRESS-X compiler to validate the mapping schema and set up a dictionary model which is the;definition for the actual conversion process. The data model that results from the conversion is saved automatically in the EDM database.;It can be exported as a STEP physical file (ISO 10303-Part 21) and, thus, used by virtually any system.
