;But to be successful in electronic commerce, companies need to implement a consumer-oriented approach: gathering information about behavior of consumers and derived from that, offer the right customer the right product at a moment the customer is ready to buy.

;Without any doubt, you can only make money on the Internet if you have information about your customer. The more detailed information you have about your customer the better product offer you can make. Meaning that the seller is recognizing his customer's needs, knows exactly how he feels, what he likes, when the moment is right to offer and knows his budget. ;;One-to-one marketing is about knowing and learning more from your customer and reacting based on the information you gathered. On the Internet the customer is anonymous. You know nothing about him. ;Profile Management
;;The concept of TOPWING's unique technology, supports the principle that: the more you know about the customer the better you can make an offer he can't refuse.
;TOPWING's state of the art technology is built around the concept of Profile Management.
;The Profile Manager is the basis for all the decisions made by the system, from the moment the consumer enters the Internet site until he leaves and have bought a product. Profiles, based on information gathered about the consumer or group of consumers, will not only determine which products are shown, Profiles will also determine the look and feel of the Internet pages, how products are offered.
;The more the Profile Manager knows about the customers the better he can make a match between the available profiles. Because it will always be the merchants marketing department which will define the profiles, the more they define the target market the more accurate profiles they can define. Profiles can be set for every determined target group (group of consumers with the same characteristics) or even for every known customer.
;Every Profile (pre-set) is connected to a group of Templates. Those Templates are the intermediate definitions for the web pages at an Internet site, the consumer will receive in his browser, and contain the look and feel of those web pages. Every Profile will have his own look and feel: the one that fits the best with the people who are linked to that profile. In this way the graphical presentation of the product offering will adapt it self, according to the chosen profile, in such a way that the right environment is created and therefor the right impulse for a buyer to actually buy.

;But that's not all. The Profile Manager will also decide which products will fit the best with the chosen profile.
;That means that not only the look and feel of the presentation of the product will adapt it self, but also the to-be-displayed products are dynamically chosen, based on the chosen profile.
;This unique concept of the Profile Manager is based upon a combination of gathering static and dynamical information. Statically information parameters are, e.g.: the web site where you coming from, the advertisement where the consumer clicked on or the IP address which might indicate the language to choose.
;Dynamically information is gathered from the click behavior of the customer on the web site.
;TOPWING has developed a profile-matching engine, which is built by using Neural Network technology, a technology that analyzes the click behavior of the customer. Neural Networks learn automatically when they are fed with information. This information is gathered by collecting data about the click behavior of a visitor at a web site. The longer the visitor stays the more accurate the TOPWING Profile match can be made by the Neural Network engine.
;So by using this technology TOPWING offers a concept where the click behavior of the target market users will be recognized the moment those users visits a web site. Based on this behavior the best possible profile will be selected and presented to the potential customer. This creates an environment where the impulse to buy is maximized and thus creating the highest possible change the visitor of the web site will also buy.

;The concept of the TOPWING solution is a 4 level model. It consists of:

- Shopping Card or Display Window (mini web site);
- Shop or Online Catalogue;
- Catalogue;
- Products and Product Groups;;
;Products and Product Groups
;;The Products and the Product Groups constitute the basis of the information, which should be presented on the Internet site. The definition of the characteristics of the Products determines the dynamics of the system. The more information is stored about those Products, the more dynamics it will create.

;Catalogue
;;The Catalogue will combine certain Products to create logical product groups. This combination is unlimited and can be every cross section of products you want.
;The definition, of which Products belong to which catalogue, is both static and dynamic. The definition itself is always created on the basis of characteristics of the products. So a static definition of a catalogue could be e.g. all companies manufacturing Jeans.
;A dynamically extension to the static definition could be e.g. that in that same catalogue, only Jeans from a certain brand are displayed/offered. Because at definition time, you don't know yet which brand a consumer might be interested in, the Profile will determine what to offer. Based on heuristic information gathering by the Neural Network and the definition of the Profile by the offering company, a perfect match is made between the interest of a potential customer and the product offering. This creates the highest impulse possible to buy!

;Templates
;;Templates will approach the product information through Catalogues. The Catalogues are intermediaries between the Templates and the product information itself. By using this intermediate between Templates and Products and Product Groups, TOPWING has introduced a new dynamically way of presenting product information.
;Every Template can have multiple Template formats. The Profile Manager will choose a Template depending on the best matching Profile. For example if the Profile Manager knows that a specific visitor of a web site likes Jeans from Calvin Klein, a specific Template will be chosen, with a look and feel geared especially for Calvin Klein shoppers.
;Expressions are built using TOPWING's unique Template technology, where HTML commands are combined with TOPTAG commands. TOPTAG commands, part of TOPWING's unique architecture, have the same structure and the same usability as the standard HTML commands. TOPTAG commands tell exactly which, when and where, the corresponding information out of the Shopping Card System (the display mechanism) is placed into the HTML Template. TOPTAG commands are easy to use, extremely user friendly and therefor can easily maintained by non-technical users.

;;The Shop definition is the entry point, although that's not obligatory. Every Template may be an entry point, but the shop entry point has some very strong advantages.
;When the shop entry point is used, the Profile Manager will decide dependent on the chosen profile which combination of Templates and sections will be used.
;Especially when the Profile Manager can determine the best matching profile up front, because it knows

- the web site where the customer is coming from;
- the advertisement where the consumer clicked on;
- the IP address might tell the language to choose;;;;The Profile Manager can chose the corresponding Template (look and feel) and the corresponding section (so which products).
;When the customer stays on the web site the Profile Manager, who continually analyzes the customers click behavior, may chose to link the customer to another profile. When that is happening the look and feel of the web site may change radically and the products, which are presented may be different ones.
