Web Stimulus has two levels of ASP.NET acceleration. Front-End acceleration speeds up loading images, stylesheets and JavaScript files. It consolidates multiple HTTP responses into a single batch download, compresses HTTP requests and responses and minifies text-base traffic. Front-End acceleration reduces HTTP round-trips and redundant downloads, removes excessive chatter from web traffic, improves bandwidth utilization and speeds up page loads. The number of requests or conditional requests of a typical web page with 50+ objects is reduced by an order of magnitude or more.
Back-End Acceleration combines 10-50x ASP.NET traffic reduction with client caching of dynamic pages and server offload. Web Stimulus automatically caches the static segments of each web page and generates HTML on the client where it is instantly loaded to the browser avoiding network latencies. It also locally executes segments of server code providing near-desktop application responsiveness and freeing up server resources.
Web Stimulus consists of middleware for Microsoft IIS and web browser plug-in (Active-X). Users without the plug-in can access the same apps but without performance benefits. Front-End acceleration is enabled with few mouse-clicks. It does not require configuration or application changes. Back-End acceleration can be configured on any web page by using Web Stimulus controls for light code annotation.
